America’s Biggest Buffet

Who doesn’t love a buffet? With a bounty of food at your fingertips, you can move through these culinary wonderlands and taste until your heart's content. You may think of all-you-can-eat restaurants as an American institution, but it was actually the Swedish smorgasbord that started this way to efficiently feed a large amount of people. Of course, only one buffet can claim to be the largest in the United States, and with a whopping 200 feet of buffet counters, Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl, Pennsylvania, holds that title. While the buffet serves time-tested American classics like steak, prime rib, and seafood, it’s also know for featuring Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine that’s unique to the region. The buffet alone can seat 1,200 and is over 110,000 square feet. Typical offerings include soups, salads, breads and rolls, vegetables, meats, desserts and drinks. Anything you could possibly want to eat or drink can be found on the enormous buffet counters. The buffet is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with food available on the buffet until 8:15 p.m. Prices range from $13.99 for breakfast to $29.99 for dinner.
