Just when you thought PETA couldn’t get any more ridiculous with their demands, the animal rights organization is urging the largest amusement ride manufacturer to stop selling animal-themed carousels, saying they “unintentionally celebrate exploitation.” Needless to say, the backlash started almost immediately, with people pointing out that there are bigger issues faced by animals than their likeness being used on merry-go-rounds. Social media commenters were furious, expressing their disdain for PETA with comments like this: “PETA is targeting children’s make believe, somehow equating this to real life animal abuse.” Others commented, “What’s next, banning stuffed animals for small children?” and “PETA is running out of things to do.” If PETA wants to be taken seriously, they’re certainly going about it in the wrong way.
