Want to Save Money? Work on a Cruise Ship

A woman who works on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship has revealed how much she spends each day onboard, and it's a lot cheaper than you would think. Alley Kerr has taken to social media to reveal how working on a cruise ship can save you a ton of money, while allowing you to travel and have a great time. Kerr works as a dance captain and general manager aboard the Liberty of the Seas cruise ship, acting as a liaison between management and the production cast members. Her job includes making sure every show runs smoothly, as well as keeping on top of administrative duties like cabin inspections and drills. Kerr went on to explain that she finds life on the ship more sustainable because she’s not paying for rent or food and has a steady paycheck coming in. Her spacious cabin is exactly like those provided to the guests, with a bed, wardrobe, desk, storage space, and an en-suite bathroom. The only expense she has is a $5 fee for housekeeping service. Her meals are free, with Kerr only having to pay if she chooses to dine at a specialty restaurant, and even then she gets an employee discount. The 26-year-old says she gets the most fulfillment from traveling, pointing out that she’s been to Bermuda 20 times this summer. Other ports she has visited include Italy, France, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Israel, and Spain. Liberty of the Seas has a passenger capacity of 3,634 and offers weekly cruises from Miami to the Western Caribbean.
