Mysterious House Appears on the Edge of a Cliff

A mysterious makeshift house has appeared on the rocky cliffs of Devil’s Slide, a 30-minute drive from San Francisco and notorious for landslides. The 3-story structure was first spotted by drone in December 2022. The property appears to be constructed out of driftwood and has several rooms perched precariously on the rock face, which offers stunning but dangerous views of the Pacific Ocean. It’s not clear if the structure is inhabited, but signs of life include a punching bag, a solitary wooden chair, and a fully-enclosed room. The tarp covering its bare poles can be seen blowing in the strong coastal winds, and several road signs and buoys appear strewn around the property. San Mateo County officials said they are reviewing property records to see if any more information is available.
