Malibu’s Iconic 1950s “Wave House” Hits the Market for $49.5 Million

A house designed by the late architect Harry Gesner to look like a wave has hit the market for $49.5 million. Previously owned by rocker Rod Stewart, the mid-century modern home is 6,200 square feet and sits on an acre of land. The 6-bedroom, 8-bathroom home is largely in its original state, except for a few minor updates to the interior and the exterior wood replaced with white finishes to blend in with the surrounding environment. Inside the home, the living room features a deep conversation pit with a light gray, plush, crescent-shaped couch that faces the sea and a large white fireplace. It’s surrounded by windows, with a white shiplap vaulted ceiling, giving it a glamorous boat-like feel. The exterior of the home is reflective like sea glass, with copper shingles that were later painted green patina.
