Finland: The Only Place in the World You Can Have a Meal and Enjoy a Spa at Burger King

We’ve all heard about “meat sweats,” but at Burger King in Mannerheimintie, Finland, it takes on a more literal meaning. It’s the only fast-food location in the world that features a 15-person sauna, shower room, locker room, and media lounge with TV and gaming facilities. Guests can spread out on blue and red benches in the sauna and watch TV or play video games while basking in the steam. If all that pore-flushing makes you hungry, no problem — servers are there to take your food and beverage orders. You can enjoy a meal as flame-grilled as your skin, although your fries might wilt in the humidity. With one sauna for every 3 people in Finland, it’s an integral part of the country’s culture. It’s a place to relax, socialize, and even hold business meetings. In fact, the Burger King spa won an award for New Concepts in Food Service by Euromonitor, who called it “a powerful example of localization.” So, while the spa might seem a little odd, in Finland it’s just another way to lure customers in for a Whopper, Chicken Fries, or a Bacon King.
