Have you ever been torn between a hamburger and a hot dog? Have you ever wished you could combine the two into a futuristic-looking hybrid? If you answered yes to either of those questions, your prayers have been answered. Meet the Hamdog — a hamburger/hot dog hybrid created by Australian businessman Mark Murray. The Hamdog looks like a typical hamburger, with small bread extensions on the side to facilitate the placement of a hot dog down the middle. Murray came up with the idea of the Hamdog while visiting a pub in Nashville, Tenn. Before calling for a taxi, he decided to purchase both a hamburger and a hot dog. In the cab, he was chowing down on the burger when he took a bite of the hot dog, and food began flying everywhere. That’s when he thought, “Wouldn’t it be easier if they joined these things together?” The next day, Murray began sketching the initial concept of the Hamdog bun, and over the next two years put together a patent application. News of the Hamdog spread across the globe and people couldn’t wait to get their hands on the combo. The Hamdog comes in a bun made in a special mold and features lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, and a variety of sauces. It typically sells for $7.
