As the world crumbles around us, we can all take comfort in pizza. In fact, statistics show that Americans consume an average of 23 pounds of pizza per person each year, ordering 350 slices of pizza every second. While there are 70,000 pizzerias in the U.S., there’s only one that offers to send your pizza in a box made of pizza. Vinnie’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn created the contraption a few years ago when owner Sean Berthiaume noticed that customers would order a pizza to go, eat it in the restaurant, and then clog up the trash can with the paper pizza boxes. Vinnie’s pizza box is a classic pepperoni pizza, but there’s no sauce on this one. It’s basically a giant garlic bread that’s closed over the pizza. While you can get the pizza delivered to your doorstep, it’s a process. Berthiaume prefers customers order the pizza box and pick it up at the store. Each pizza box costs $40, but you get the pizza and a box you can eat…….what more can you ask?
