The Parisian Cat Hotel That’s Fully Booked

As much as they enjoyed the company of their cats during the two years of coronavirus lockdown, Parisians have enthusiastically take up travel again, and no hotel is enjoying more bookings than Le Arbe a Chats (The Cats’ Tree) Hotel. Prospective guests need to place a reservation well in advance, as all of its 24 “contemporary and comfortable” cubicles are fully booked. Cats who know one another can, however, double up and share a room. Hotel owner Veronica Colson says that the hotel is booked up through the end of February. With cats snoozing on couches, sitting high up in the tree-shaped wooden climbing structure in the center, or observing street life from the ledge of a window, the hotel is in full swing as cat owners rediscover the pleasure of travel. In true Parisian style, the hotel has “a la carte” services such as massages, brushing, and transportation to a veterinarian if needed. As an extra feature, the hotel management will send owners a picture and a message twice a week about what their cat is eating and how it’s getting along with the other “guests.” The hotel offers many packages to meet all the needs of cat owners. Rooms begin at $40 per night for single occupancy with a 2-night minimum. Extras, including medication, flea and deworming treatments, and even catnip, come at a price from $2 for medication to $10 for a 10-minute massage. Owners must provide documentation of their cat’s vaccinations, as well as information concerning their pet’s eating habits and behavior.
