Mark Webster describes himself as a pretty average guy. The 37-year-old startup founder lives in New York City with his wife and their 2-year-old daughter. Then there’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who might think he’s average, but his diet and fitness routine are anything but that. To maintain his physique involves spending 6 hours a day at the gym and consuming 5,000 calories. So, why did Webster decide to follow Johnson’s diet and fitness routine for a month? As many fathers do, he became concerned about his mortality, wanting to be around for his daughter as long as possible. He admitted that he had let himself go and decided to do something — perhaps a bit drastic — about it. Working out was pretty straightforward, with Webster working out 6 days a week and taking Sunday off to rest. There was, however, no rest from the cod. Following Johnson’s diet, Webster consumed 2½ pounds of cod — a fish particularly rich in protein — eggs, steak, chicken, vegetables and potatoes…….all told, about 10 pounds of food per day. The picture below shows his prep meal for a day, fully loaded with calories and protein. Setting up an assembly line in his kitchen, he managed to get it down to a 15-minute process. Eating like The Rock doesn’t come cheap either. Webster spent between $40 and $50 a day on food for himself — over $1,200 a month. Though he was eating around 5,000 calories a day, he didn’t gain any weight during the experiment. What he did do was lose a good amount of fat, firmed up his abs, and improved his cardio. As for what he learned during his 30-day experiment…….”I don’t think I’ll ever eat cod again."
