McDonald’s is the largest chain of hamburger fast-food restaurants in the world, serving more than 58 million customers everyday throughout its over 31,000 locations worldwide. Out of all the chain’s thousands of restaurants, which one gets the most business? Surprisingly, it’s not in the United States, where the company was founded and has its headquarters. It’s actually in Russia. There are more than 200 McDonald’s restaurants in Russia, but the one in Pushkin Square in Moscow holds the distinction of being the busiest in the world. Pushkin Square is one of the busiest city squares in Russia and, in fact, in the world. The McDonald’s location there was the first to open in the country on Jan. 31, 1990, months before the Soviet Union collapsed. It is estimated that the restaurant serves over 40,000 people every single day. The menu is essentially the same as in the United States, with the addition of cabbage pie, among other traditional Russian food items.
