How to Make Chocolate Cake in a Microwave

While many people prefer to show their families their love by slaving over a hot oven to make chocolate cake from scratch, there are plenty of other people out there who want to whip up a single serving of chocolate cake, without the fuss and muss of doing it from scratch. For those people, take heart. Instead of a cake pan and an oven, the only equipment you need to whip up a chocolate cake for yourself is a mug and a microwave. Start by mixing 3 tablespoons of flour, 3 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, ¼ teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch of salt in a 12-ounce microwave-safe ceramic mug. Combine the dry ingredients with a fork, and then pour 3 tablespoons of milk and 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil into the mixture. Add a splash of vanilla extract for optional flavoring and stir the ingredients until you have a smooth batter. For the final step, mix in 3 tablespoons or chocolate chips…….or not. Simply pop the mug into your microwave and cook it on high for 90 seconds. Then, wait 2-3 minutes for the cake to cool down, get yourself a spoon or fork, and dig in.
