If You’re a Citizen of Monaco, Forget About Entering a Casino

Monaco is the second smallest country in the world, with a total area of only 1.24 square miles. Ruled by a descendant of the Grimaldi family, it has retained its status as an independent nation. Monaco is famous for its casinos and has even been featured in James Bond movies. However, there’s one bizarre fact that many don’t know about the country. Monaco laws forbid locals from gambling. In fact, they can’t even set foot inside a casino unless they work there. While the government welcomes the money lost by foreigners who choose to gamble in Monaco’s casinos, they don’t want their own citizens subject to gambling addiction and all that entails. In exchange, citizens of the tiny country pay no income taxes.
