800-Pound Speed Camera Stolen From Intersection

The city of Toronto in Canada has photo radar speed cameras that are used in an effort to control traffic. Tickets range from $5 to $12 per mile over the speed limit. It easy to understand why people aren’t too happy with the devices, but someone must have been really angry. That’s because one of the 800-pound cameras was stolen from the intersection of Jameson Avenue and Queen Street. Police are puzzled, since it requires a hydraulic lift to move one of the devices. The city isn't too happy, since the cameras cost around $50,000 each. This isn’t the first time someone has managed to haul away one of the bulky machines. Four others have been stolen at various times and none of them have ever been recovered. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400 or online at www.222tips.com.
