If your idea of a dream getaway involves three roommates, no quick trip home, and a rover with a non-flushable toilet, NASA has an opening you may want to see. The space agency has announced that it's recruiting four research volunteers for its first-ever Moon and Mars Exploration Analog mission — picky eaters and sleepwalkers need not apply. Beginning no earlier than August 2027, the crew will spend a year in isolation, simulating everything astronauts headed for deep space would do. Well … everything except the leaving Earth part. The whole thing plays out at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Before you dust off the résumé, NASA says applicants must be a U.S. citizen, 30-55 years old, no taller than 6’2”, fluent in English, able to pass physical and psychological evaluations, free of dietary restrictions, with no history of sleepwalking or taking sleep aids. As for qualifications, a degree in engineering, math, or physical or biological science are required. As for what this year in pretend space pays, the fine print notes that participants “will be reimbursed,” but leaves it there. Applications are open on an ongoing basis.
