Ryder Cup Fans Appalled by Criminal Uber Prices to Get Home

Fans who attended the Ryder Cup’s first day have been left stunned after discovering the price of an Uber to leave event. After the thrilling action, it was Europe who ended the day with a three-point lead over the United States. However, as the day came to an end, fans quickly realized that leaving Long Island would be just about as challenging as the course itself. The most affordable option and the one with the shortest wait time — an UberX Priority — was $440. Meanwhile, the most expensive option — a Premier SUV — was $1,077. A step down was the UberXXL, which seats 6, for a whopping $740. Many fans opted to find a shuttle bus instead. Of course, fans took to social media to air their grievances, with comments like, “This should be illegal!” and “This is criminal, Uber!” Uber and other rideshare services use dynamic pricing, where fares increase automatically when demand is high, which is typical for sporting events like the Ryder Cup.
