Teen Discovers Long-Lost Sister After Spotting Look-Alike on Rival Softball Team

When 19-year-old Samantha Rensvold was playing in a softball tournament in Montana, she spotted a face that looked like her twin on the opposing team. It turned out that her dead ringer was actually her younger sister, 18-year-old Kyann Dean. Samantha explained that a teammate actually pointed Kyann out, saying they looked alike. Not wanting to be wrong, Samantha didn’t approach Kyann until after the game. After telling her mother about the uncanny resemblance, they checked the team roster and found Kyann’s name. It turns out that Samantha’s adoptive mother knew that the biological mother had named her second daughter Kyann. The next time they saw each other at a softball game, Samantha’s mother approached Kyann’s family and discovered that the adopted daughters’ biological mothers share the same name and that both girls were born at the same hospital. The sisters, who haven’t done a DNA test, were excited to find each other, even though it took a moment to process. It turns out they grew up just 400 miles apart. Samantha is currently a freshman at Spokane College in Washington state, while Kyann attends college in North Dakota, but both have pledged to stay in touch.
