Your watchlist may be about to get a little shorter. As the 2025-26 television season comes to a close, NBC is saying goodbye to a surprising number of shows. While several scripted series failed to earn renewals, the biggest shock for many viewers may be the cancellation of Access Hollywood, the iconic entertainment news show that's been delivering all things celebrity, Hollywood, and red carpet coverage for nearly 30 years. The cancellation was initially announced back in March as part of NBCUniversal’s decision to exit the first-run syndication business, but because the show is still producing new episodes, many fans may not realize its final sign-off is approaching. The show is expected to air its last original episode in September 2026. It’s safe to say this is the end of an era for many longtime fans. The entertainment news program first launched in 1996 and, in recent years, has been anchored by Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover, Zuri Hall and Scott Evans. Access Hollywood isn’t the only fan-favorite show coming off the air. NBCUniversal’s Frances Berwick said, “NBCUniversal is making changes to our first-run syndication division to better align with the programming preferences of local stations.” So, this would be a good time to check and see if one of your favorites is on the chopping block.
