Manitoba Pup Goes Viral For Guarding Children at the Bus Stop

Each morning, 9-year-old Oakes and 6-year-old Winnie wait for the bus outside their home near St. Anne, Manitoba, and each morning their German shepherd Ozzy waits right alongside them. Rain or shine, the pup walks the children to the end of their driveway, waits for the bus to pull up, watches as they get on board, and leaves only after the doors are shut and the bus has pulled away. True to his breed, the daily shepherding just comes naturally to Ozzy. “He’s kind of always around, making sure that he’s guarding and watching,” said dad Steph Pattyn. He went on to explain that in the past, either he or his wife Riesha would stand with the kids at the bus stop, but then Ozzy took over. For the last two years, Ozzy has been the bus stop guard dog and the kids love it. Riesha took to TikTok to post a video of Ozzy doing his job, and it struck a massive chord with viewers, to the tune of 2.9 million views in a matter of weeks. The video has also garnered some free swag for Ozzy, from dog jackets to boots. Fame and freebies aside, Steph and Riesha Pattyn are happy that Ozzy’s followers seem to be just as in love with the good shepherd as their family is.
