Oil Wells That Are Disguised As Buildings

In Los Angeles, oil and gas wells are hidden all over the city. Over 50 buildings are uses as disguises. That’s because residents who live in the homes adjacent to these windowless office buildings would rather see that than a bunch of oil wells. Behind the facades, which are roofless, oil derricks move on tracks to tap the various wells. The derricks are camouflaged and sound-proofed, and now, Los Angeles County residents have learned to live beside these oil production facilities. Thousands of gallons are pumped every year, helping fuel the vehicles of the mostly oblivious drivers who pass by.
