Man With the World’s Largest Feet Receives Custom Shoes

Jeison Rodriguez Hernandez's feet have grown over the years. In 2015, his right foot measured 15.79 inches and his left 15.5 inches, roughly a size 26. That’s why shoemaker Georg Wessels (pictured below) of Vreden, Germany, has been making shoes for Rodriguez for years. He recently went to Venezuela to make his latest delivery, a pair of size 37 shoes. The 28-year-old holds the Guinness World Record for the person with the largest feet in the world. The 7’3” gentle giant’s uncontrollable growth is due to a condition called acromegaly, an extremely rare syndrome that occurs when the anterior pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone. As part of his treatment, Rodriguez requires regular checkups and a special diet. He was first diagnosed at age 12, and from the age of 14 had to have shoes made out of cloth, which only lasted 2-3 weeks. Rodriguez isn’t, however, the tallest person in the world. That record belongs to 8’2” Sultan Kosen from Turkey. Rodriguez isn’t interested in that title. “When I was a kid some of my classmates bullied me,” he said. “Now I’m quite popular and people ask me for pictures on the streets.”
