British Charity Forces McDonald’s To Redesign Their McFlurry Cups

The British Hedgehog Preservation Society in the UK was unhappy about the lid on the McDonald’s soft-serve ice cream product, the McFlurry. For six years, they battled the fast-food giant because the design of the ice cream container was such that hedgehogs could become stuck in it. A court finally sided with the charity, requiring McDonald’s to change their packaging. McDonald’s complied, agreeing to significant research to develop a new lid. The new top now has a hole that’s too small for hedgehogs to crawl through.
