Driver Crashes Girlfriend’s Maserati In a High-Speed Chase

An unidentified 32-year-old driver crashed his girlfriend’s $78,000 Maserati Levante SUV under a concrete freeway bridge in Oakland, California, after a police chase. As a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to pull the man over for speeding, he took off, hitting speeds of 100mph, but lost control of the vehicle and drove it up the embankment before wedging it under the elevated highway. The front of the car was stuck tight under the roadway, with most of its roof crushed by the impact. Its rear fender also flew off as a result of the impact. The driver was taken to the hospital complaining of pain, but is expected to make a full recovery. He faces charges of speeding, evading police, and reckless driving. The driver is lucky to be alive. The owner of the Maserati... not so lucky.
