French Scrap Law Prohibiting Employees From Eating Lunch At Their Desks

French office workers can now experience the treasured American pastime of quickly scarfing down a lackluster salad or over-priced burger at their desks… without breaking the law. Until now, French labor laws prohibited employees from eating lunch at their desks. Now, the government has issued a decree relaxing the law due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, French workers traditionally enjoyed leisurely multi-course lunches at local eateries with coworkers. The change — which is only temporary — applies to businesses of more than 50 workers.
