British Snow Plows Have Creative Names

For residents of Doncaster in the UK, nothing is as boring as an unnamed snow plow (called “gritters” in the UK). That’s why the city council decided to spice things up by allowing residents to name the snow plows. The most recent addition was put up for naming, and suggestions were short-listed by the council’s “comedy panel” of civil servants and put out to a public vote. More than 25,000 people cast their votes, choosing between Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machiney and Spready Mercury. Gritsy Bitsy won with 52.6% of the votes. Other plows have been named Brad Grit, Gritney Spears, Usain Salt, David Plowie, and Grit Balls O’Fire.
