This Father Learned To Sew and Made Amazing Dresses For His Daughter

In 2014, Michael Gardner was looking for a way to bond with his daughter Ava, who was only three years old at the time. That’s when he came up with the idea to teach himself how to sew. It turned out that what he really learned is that sewing was his biggest passion. He began making custom designs for Ava by refashioning used women’s clothing he bought from a thrift store. Gardner’s mission was to help Ava build her self-esteem and establish confidence in herself and her abilities. Now, the 36-year-old creates and sews the outfits, and Ava, who is now nine, models them. Gardner says he learned how to sew by watching YouTube videos and viewing tutorials on Pinterest. He has now created an Instagram account with about 21,000 followers, as well as a blog called Daddy Dressed Me. He has created over 200 unique outfits for his daughter, and here is a sampling.
