Dutch Designer Creates Innovative Classroom Stools That Encourage Healthy Posture

It’s fair to say that children spend a fair chunk of their lives sitting, especially in school, and minimal movement is unhealthy for the body. That’s what prompted Dutch designer Boris Lancelot of Studio Lancelot to come up with a solution in the form of a chair design that keeps children physically active while they’re sitting at their desks. The Active Classroom series is a set of ergonomic children’s furniture designed in a way that encourages healthier sitting positions. Chairs are deliberately made in a shape that allows children to assume a variety of positions that stimulate muscular activity and minimize the health risks that extended inactivity poses. There are a total of four models currently available, each allowing for up to four different sitting positions.
