Michigan “Castle” Hits the Market For Only $529,000

Why bother with apartments or houses when you can live in a family-sized castle? The Helmer Castle, located in Jackson, Michigan, was named after its owner, reclusive concert violinist Max Helmer. The castle was built in 1927 and was inspired by Roman architecture. The medieval-styled building has been modernized since then, with some of the interior furniture and tech being of a more contemporary style. The castle is a 2,000 square foot structure built in the middle of a 20-acre plot of land surrounded by a forest. Inside, the house has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen and dining area, and a spacious living room. Outside, there’s a basketball court, three separate patios, a garage, and vast areas of greenery. The castle is on the market for $529,000 and can be used for a number of functions, including serving as a single family home, vacation home or rental, wedding venue, or private multi-use retreat venue. Putting the word "only" in front of a figure like $529,000 might sound strange, but as castles go, half a million is a really good price.
