4-Ingredient Mason Jar Ice Cream Will Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth in a Snap

Perhaps you grew up in a family that had an ice cream maker. If so, you probably remember the clunky mess it tended to make, and you sure don’t want to repeat that today. Well, now you don’t have to. That’s because there’s a simple recipe for good ice cream, and it can be made in a mason jar with four simple ingredients. All it requires is a cup of heavy cream, 1½ tablespoons of granulated sugar, 1½ teaspoons of vanilla extract, and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Note: Some have suggested that less salt would be better. After pouring those ingredients into a 16-oz. mason jar (or any old jar will do), seal the lid and shake it for 3-5 minutes. That might seem like a long time, but it goes faster than you think. Once it gets to the consistency of a loose batter that can coat a spoon, it’s ready for the freezer. If you can keep your hands off the jar for a couple of hours, you’ll have some tasty vanilla ice cream to enjoy. You can even experiment with adding flavors, or even chocolate chips.
