Italian Police Use a Lamborghini To Transport Organs

It’s no secret that the Italian State Police have a few Lamborghinis in their fleet, but they’re equipped a little differently. The Huracans come outfitted with a refrigerated trunk for transporting organs and other temperature-sensitive medical supplies. The vehicles also have defibrillators on board, making them much more than just a loud way to issue tickets to speeding Italian motorists. The Lamborghini averages 145 mph, and that came in handy when they were tasked with delivering a donor kidney from Rome to Padua — a journey of more than 300 hours. The kidney was delivered in about two hours, much less than the normal five to six hours a normal car would take. Speedy organ delivery isn’t the only job the supercars do. They are actually regular patrol cars for the department, equipped with lights, a police computer, and other equipment necessary to perform traffic stops and arrests. Luckily for other speeders, the Lamborghini was too busy flying down the road for officers to check their radar guns.
