Toss a Can of Chickpeas Into Your Air Fryer

If you’re bored with the same old snacks — popcorn, chips, pretzels, etc. — here’s something that probably never crossed your mind: chickpeas. That’s right, just dump a 15.5-ounce can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans) into a colander, let them drain for a few minutes, and then toss them directly into the basket of your air fryer so they can dry while it preheats to 400º F. Letting the excess liquid evaporate into the hot, swirling heat will make your chickpeas more receptive to oil, which will make them crisper and more delicious. Once your air fryer lets you know it’s preheated, open the drawer, basket or door (depending on your model) and see how the beans are looking. If they look wet, close everything back up for a few minutes and let them cook until they look dry or slightly brown. Once they’re done, dump them into a bowl, drizzle a teaspoon of oil on top, and toss with your favorite seasoning. Return the chickpeas to the air fryer and cook for another 9-12 minutes until they’re as crispy as you desire, shaking the basket every 3-4 minutes. The longer you cook them, the crispier they’ll get. When you’re ready, transfer the chickpeas into a bowl and enjoy your new snack.
